Green and Purple Pitcher

Glazes mixing with each other.
This pitcher is now in a private collection.

I absolutely loved making this Pitcher. The colors are so rich together. The top and inside of the pitcher is glazed with Coyote's Pam's Green and the bottom is glazed with Coyote's Pansy Purple. By over lapping the two glazed in the center a new color of blue is created as the two glazes blend into each other. The two colors together become something new altogether.
The form of the pitcher is a simple and stylish form. With its broad belly accentuated by the mingling glazes and the gently sloping handle, the pitcher is a well balanced functional piece of pottery. At the top of the handle were the handle connects to the pitcher body you will see my potter's mark.

This pitcher is 6 1/2 inches tall and the body is around 5 inches wide. Pitcher Vase

This is a beautiful vase created to look like a pitcher. You can try to use it as pitcher, but the liquid will over flow the sides of the spout. The rich colors of the vase has a firebrick red inside and a frosting of blue on the outside. It stands just under 7 inches tall, and from handle to spout it is around 7 1/2 inches wide.

Burgundy Vase

I love the colors on this vase. The deep burgundy is such a great color. The blue that is flowing from the brim offers such a nice contrast as it runs down the side of the vase. This is a perfect vase for for a small bunch of short stem flowers. If you are lacking the flowers, then set this piece out all by itself. This vase is 4 1/4 inches tall and about 5 3/4 inches wide.

Green and Cinnamon Bowl

There are times when something just grabs my heart and makes it want to sing. I had that experience the other day when I went out for ice cream with my family. We stood in line for nearly thirty minutes to get our scoop of creamy love. The flavor I chose that day was perhaps one of the most incredible flavors I have ever had. It was Arbequina Olive Oil. Does that sound odd to you? It did to me... until it made its debut on my tongue. It sang such delicious notes of smooth spicy goodness that I was struck to the core with a of food joy that strummed chords of happiness within my heart. I was hooked. And so was Oprah. She deemed it one of her "favorite things".

How does that apply to pottery? Let me explain. If you are a potter, then you know the anticipation of opening the kiln after the many hours of firing. Some describe that moment of opening the kiln as being like Christmas morning for a child. Steve Irvine, who has been doing pottery since 1968, said "Even after all these years of firing kilns I still can't wait for each new kiln load to cool down so that I can see how things turned out!"

The same is true for me also. I long for the moment when all is cool enough to open the kiln. Most of the time it is still too hot to handle, so I get the gloves on and pull the pieces out one at a time and set them on my work table. Each piece is a gift. And some of those gifts just make you stop in your tracks and just behold the beauty. This is how I felt when I first saw this piece. My heart stopped for a moment as I stared in wonder. Joy swept through my little soul and I was in love.

The clay for the body is called cinnamon trail mix. It has a rich cinnamonny red. The red dots on the side were made by putting what is called wax resist on the clay before the glazing process. The result is that when the watery glaze is applied to the pottery, it is repelled from adhering to the clay wherever the wax is. This particular glaze is called copper patina. The green contrasts so nicely with the red of the clay that it just sings.

Now, could you imagine the incredible joy that one could have if Arbequina Olive Oil ice cream were to be served in this bowl! One may need medical help.

Garden Markers

Winter starts to give way to the awakening of Spring, which in turn triggers something in our hearts. Out of the tool shed we carry the tools into the backyard and we start to break up the ground. Neat rows of earth are mounded up and the packet of seeds are sorted. We poke our fingers in the soil just up to the first knuckle and two or three seeds tumble in. A garden is born.

All you need now are garden markers to declare the forth coming fruits of your labor. Jennifer has created this line of lovely garden markers. Each piece is unique and has an artisans feel. One of Jennifer's garden markers
at the head of each row will add beauty to your garden.

Another sweet way to use these markers is in a potted plant gift. Pick out a potted plant for a loved one and then add one marker with a message. The marker adds an extra touch of love.

Cake Stand

Cake stands. I love them. Aesthetically I think they can be stunning. The shape, the simple details, the color, the texture, they all mix to make a something that is (dare I say) art. Be it a cake or cupcakes, stands help those items shine just a little more.

This stand has a height of 4 1/2" and its width is about 8 1/2 inches.

Cake Stand

I have always liked the look of a cake stand. They have such a presence and beauty all their own that it is not uncommon to see the stand left on display all by itself. But then you put a cake on a it and the stand shines in a whole new way as it partners itself with the cake.

This cake stand is glazed with an Egg Shell Wash. The finish is the beautiful matte texture that feels so soft to the touch.

This cake stand has a top plate of  width of 8-3/4", and has a height of 3". The base is spreads out to 3-3/4" wide.

I hand made this on the potter's wheel in two pieces. The base was attached to the top during the glazing process.

Temmoku Vase

This little vase is gem. It has simple, clean curves. The inside of the vase I glazed with a matte black, and the outside is treated with Temmoku glaze. Standing just under 5 1/2" tall and 3 1/2" wide, this vase would be perfect for single bloom display. Because the Temmoku glaze is so pretty, this vase can be left on display all year round even if it has no flowers in it.

Nesting Bowl Set

I love the way this set turned out. The glaze is call Ancient Jasper. The great thing about the glaze is that it has a different outcome ever time you use it. If you fire it a little cooler, then one color come out a little more strongly than if you fire it hotter. Even the type of clay that you use will influence the way the glaze finishes. If the pottery piece has different textures on the the body, then various colors will break out on the high points, while another color settles into the low points. So each new piece is an adventure in glaze which puts a little mystery into each piece.
In this set the glaze has a patches of a sagey green that melts into hues of blue. Floating on those colors are patches of of a lovely read. In a few places the pieces were just slightly kissed with touches of gold. The over all effect is that these bowls end up having a very intriguing look at every turn. If they end up on display, one would want to turn the bowls occasionally just so the bowls can show off new feel.

On the side of each bowl are various stripes of exposed raw clay. The clay itself is a rich chocolate color that is a beautiful compliment to the Ancient Jasper glaze.

Each bowl decreases in size. The largest bowl is just over 4" tall, and is about 7 1/2" wide. The middle bowl is 3 1/2" tall, and just over 6" wide. The smallest bowl is just under 2 1/2" tall, and just under 4 1/2" wide.

Split-Handle Pitcher

I loved making this split-handled pitcher. It is a beautifully hand made blue pitcher with hues of reddish brown blushing through. Though useful for everyday service, it is beautiful enough to place on display. This pitcher was made on the potters wheel and then glazed by hand. It is completely safe to use the dishwasher for ease of cleaning. It holds three and a half cups of liquid- just enough for a romantic evening for two.

This pitcher is just under 7" tall and has a width of around 6 1/2".

Paul's Pumkins

This beautiful handmade pumpkin was made by me on my potter's wheel. The color of the body is a rich red that has lovely hues of blue and gold that softly frost the surface. The stem's sea-green color is broken through with a splendid gold. These medium pumpkins stand between four to seven inches high and are about five to seven inches wide. The character of each pumpkin is unique. Whether on display by singularly or in groups, these pumpkins make a beautiful display in any setting.
